Enrichment Education for Students:

Mathematics, Writing and Computers

Mathematics Enrichment:  Boundless Education offers the nationally recognized IMACS Math Enrichment – mind-stretching mathematics for bright and inquisitive students in grades 1-8.  Our model focuses on developing logical and critical thinking and we cover deep and fundamental concepts of mathematics.  Classes are game- based and fun! This curriculum is specifically designed for children who like math and do well in their math classes at school.  Students are exposed to a great deal of mathematics that is not taught in traditional programs.  Reservations are required and space is limited.  Call Boundless Education @ (203) 762-7402 for more information and before enrolling ALL new students.  All classes run in 8-week sessions and begin in September as seen, below. 

 

The Primary Level:  A sequence of classes designed for first graders.  These classes meet for 1 hour each week. 

  • Choose either Wednesdays 8- 9:00 AM before school at Miller Driscoll or Wednesday after school at Comstock 3:35-4:35pm.  Tuition $290.00.  Class begins 9/15.   Activity #:  morning 5699 or after school 5707

 

The Elementary Level: Provides challenge, learning and fun for 2nd graders and meets one day each week before school at Miller Driscoll.

  • Choose either the Tuesday or Thursday option, 7:45 – 9:00 AM.  Begins week of 9/13.   Tuition $375.00 Activity #’s   TU:  5687               TH:  5688

 

The Full Enrichment Level: students in grades 3-5, this level meets each week for 1 ½ hours after school at Comstock Community Center.

  • Tuesday  2:20 -3:50  PM.  Tuition $420.00.  Class begins 9/14.   Activity #:  5689

 

The Intermediate Enrichment Level:  For bright and mathematically talented students in grades 4-7.  

  • Thursday 2:20 – 4:00 PM at Comstock. Tuition $440.00.  Class begins 9/16.  Activity #:  5690

 

The Advanced Level: Prior course work and special permission necessary to enter this course.

  • Tuesday 4:00 - 5:30 PM at Comstock.  Class begins  9/14.    Tuition $440.00.  Activity #:  5692

 

Writing Enrichment:  Boundless Education offers a stimulating and logical approach to expository and creative writing for the young and talented mind.  We employ photos or art to lead students through the exciting process of developing prose.  A feature in a photo that could otherwise be overlooked at first glance can become the critical subject of factual or creative focus.  Grammar , vocabulary and literary devices become the tools for discovery and description.  Taught in workshop style, this is definitely not your typical writing class.  8-week class session meets one time per week.  Class size limited to 12 students.

  • For students in grades 4 and 5, Wednesday 2:20-3:30 PM.   $350.00. Starts 9/22.

  • For students in grades 4 and 5, Thursday 4:15-5:15pm.  $350.00 Starts 9/16.

 

 

Hey – What Just Happened?  Writing for Today’s Modern Media

  • For students in grades 6 and 7, Thursday 5:30 – 6:30pm.  $350.00  Starts 9/16.

College Essay Writing:  Write Your Way into College: Building a Better College Essay

 

For high school juniors and seniors.  We emphasize clarity, cohesion, organization, formality, and the creation of a written voice, all of which are essential elements of a college essay.  Students work both as a group and individually with the guidance of the instructor to create their ideal college essay.  The basis format will use the biographical essay, which is the most commonly required college essay, however students are encouraged to bring in specific essay questions that they may encounter and will be guided through those as well.   Class limited to 12 students.

  • Tuesday 1 ½ hours weekly for 8 weeks, 5:45– 7:15pm at Comstock.  $400.00  Starts 9/14/2010.    Activity# :  5698

 

Computer  Enrichment:  Students don’t merely use the computer in this course; they write computer programs! Using the language LOGO (developed at MIT) and with individualized guidance, students develop basic programming and problem-solving skills. Students can also apply these skills in the IMACS Virtual Robotics Lab, where they create and control programmable, configured robots.  Students in grades 4-8 work at their own pace.

Registration for Boundless Education classes is ongoing throughout the year.  All class sessions run 8 weeks.  Students can sometimes be admitted mid-session with special permission.  Call Boundless for more information @ (203) 762-7402.
